Concept mapping can be effective in teaching writing descriptive text. The following example is made by Ni’matuz Zahroh, an English Teacher from Jombang.

Modeling of the Text

The teacher shows some sentences based on the concept mapping:

1. She has an oval face.

2. She has long wavy blonde hair.

3. She has brown slanted eyes.

4. She has pointed nose.

5. She has thin lips.

6. She has slim body.

7. She is beautiful.

The teacher presents an example of a descriptive text based on the sentences made.

         Britney Spears is a singer from United State. She is beautiful.

She has an oval face and short wavy blonde hair. Her eyes are blue.

She has a pointed nose and thin lips. Her body is slim.

Therefore, I admire her very much.
